is a building science and energy management consulting firm

located in Midland, Ontario, Canada serving clients in cold weather climates. We are recognized for our expertise in energy management, air infiltration, and forensic (building failure) investigations related to the cold climate of Canada. An analysis is achieved with detailed heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), thermal building envelope investigations, air leakage testing with depressurization and pressurization techniques, infrared thermal imagery and the use of energy analysis software. Cepheus Ltd is committed to the energy efficiency, environmental responsibility and durability of Canadas new and existing heritage buildings.

Building Science and the Building Envelope

Unfortunately, a large proportion of all buildings, both new and old, are deficient or inefficient in a variety
of ways, including durability, affordability, energy use, occupant health, safety, and productivity.
The building envelope serves the essential function of sheltering occupants from external factors.
It must keep them warm in the winter, cool in the summer, dry in all seasons and safe from extreme
weather conditions. The assessment of the envelope and the process for improvements are a critical decision to manage the costs of the improvements and resolve the problem issues.
